SUMMARY:Menomonie Theater Guild Presents: “Charely’s Aunt- A Menomonie Farce”
DESCRIPTION:Menomonie\, WI – This fall\, Menomonie Theater Guild invites audiences to step back in \ntime with a fresh\, steampunk-inspired adaptation of Brandon Thomas’s classic farce \nCharley’s Aunt. Directed and modified by Russell Slack\, the production will take the \nstage at the historic Mabel Tainter Theater—built in 1889—on October 10\, 11\, and 12\, \nas well as October 16\, 17\, and 18\, 2025. \n  \nSet in 1905 at a fictionalized University of Wisconsin–Stout\, this version blends Victorian \nand Edwardian style with whimsical steampunk flair. While rooted in the charm and wit \nof the original 1892 play\, the local adaptation brings a unique visual style and Midwest \nflavor that makes it unlike anything Chippewa Valley audiences have seen before. \n“This isn’t just a period comedy—it’s a heartfelt look at the sometimes ridiculous\, \nsometimes tender lengths we go to for the people we love\,” says Director Russell Slack. \n“My hope is that audiences leave the theater smiling\, feeling entertained\, and maybe \neven recognizing a bit of themselves in these characters.”

SUMMARY:Meet the Author - Ann Schreiber
DESCRIPTION:Meet author Ann Schreiber; she’ll have books for sale and signing. \nThe Books \nEmily is a writer\, a mother\, and a woman who knows heartbreak. Still healing from her divorce\, she’s spent the past few years quietly rebuilding her life. \nLucas is a dedicated father and architect who’s grown used to solitude after his own marriage ended. His love for his daughter\, Lily\, remains the anchor that keeps him steady. \nWhen a dating app brings them together\, sparks fly—but falling in love later in life comes with its own set of complications. Between careers\, kids\, and past pain\, learning to blend their worlds takes more than chemistry. \nTold through alternating perspectives—and love letters written but not always shared—Emily’s Next Chapter is a tender story about second chances\, the quiet work of rebuilding\, and the unexpected joy of finding love when you least expect it. \nFor anyone who’s ever wondered if it’s too late to start over—this story is for you. \nPerseverance. Reinvention. (2024)\, a raw and honest memoir \nThe Top 10 Mistakes I Made My First Year as a Copywriter (2025)\, a practical guide for new writers

SUMMARY:Building Happier Communities (and Making Great Friends Along the Way)
DESCRIPTION:Dr. Richard Kyte\, Director of the D. B. Reinhart institute for Ethics in Leadership and Endowed Professor of Ethics at Viterbo University\, will discuss ways to build happier communities and finding third places to make friends. \nHis Book: \nFinding Your Third Place \nAn exciting new look at the essential gathering spaces in our society where friendships are formed\, relationships are nurtured\, and the tapestry of community is woven. \nDo you have a third place? Your first place is home\, your second place is work\, and your third place is where you go to socialize and build friendships. Yet\, for several reasons\, many people today find themselves without a third place of their own. At a time when our nation is facing an epidemic of loneliness and communities are suffering from a loss of trust\, low levels of engagement\, despair\, and political polarization\, what if the answer to many of our problems lies in a simple idea? What if we just need to pay attention to the places where we find ourselves? \nRichard Kyte\, PhD\, combines storytelling\, social science\, and philosophy to explore: \n\nWhat makes a third place\nFactors that create and support vibrant communities\nThe role of hospitality in creating belonging and social connection\nHow third places foster friendships and bind us to others in our community\nWhat it takes to find and create a third place of your own\n\nIn person or via Zoom

SUMMARY:Mother Hubble’s Cupboard – Poetry Reading
DESCRIPTION:Join author Sandra Lindow as she reads from her latest book of poetry. She’ll have books for sale and signing after the reading. \nHer latest: \nMother Hubble’s Cupboard and Other Poems About Inner and Outer Space \n… From macrocosm to microcosm\, even the multiverse\, there are no utopias here. However\, this universe of poems is not without puns\, pie and beer\, together and separately. A bad choice of distraction if you’re hungry\, but worth two utopias in the bush. This collection swings from the gritty to the playful\, sometimes considering physics\, and sometimes using physics to explore humanity\, all the while playing fast and loose with words\, as good poetry should.\n—DAVID KOPASKA-MERKEL\, author of Unwelcome Guests \nIn person or via Zoom.
