Valentine’s Day weekend in Menomonie is all about spending time together. From cozy date nights and Galentine’s plans to family-friendly winter fun, the weekend brings together sweet treats, outdoor experiences, and inviting places to dine, making it easy to celebrate in a way that feels just right.
Sip, Stroll, and Get Cozy at the Cocoa Crawl
Celebrate the season of love with a relaxed downtown stroll during the Cocoa Crawl on Saturday, February 14. Participating downtown businesses will offer free cozy samples during their regular business hours, ranging from Swiss Miss hot cocoa varieties and chocolate treats to cookies, ice cream, or even simple DIY crafts.
The Cocoa Crawl is designed to be flexible and welcoming. Make it a date, gather friends for a Galentine’s plan, or bring the whole family along to explore downtown at your own pace while enjoying a little something sweet at each stop.
For even more fun, participants can take part in the Cozy Passport. Visit participating businesses between February 14–20 to collect punches, then turn in a completed passport with 10 or more punches at any participating location to be entered to win a grand prize cozy basket.
Get Competitive at the St. Valentine’s Day Hustle
For those who like their Valentine’s celebrations with a dose of adventure, the St. Valentine’s Day Hustle offers a fun and unconventional option. Now in its 18th year, this alley cat–style bike race sends participants on a spirited route around scenic Lake Menomin.
Registration takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at Zymurgy Brewing Company, with the race starting promptly at 1:00 p.m. The $10 entry fee is open to participants ages 21 and older, and the race both begins and ends at the brewery.
Riders are encouraged to bring a bike, a pen or marker, stamina, and a sense of adventure—terrain may vary, and bike selection matters. After the race, return later in the evening for the 8:00 p.m. bonfire on the lake, a relaxed way to warm up and celebrate together.
Skate, Sip, and Celebrate at Wolske Bay
Valentine’s Day continues outdoors with a cozy winter gathering at Wolske Bay on Saturday, February 14, from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. This free, all-ages event features free ice skating, free hot cocoa, winter lights, and a beautiful sunset over the bay.
Skate for the afternoon or stop by for a quick lap on the ice. Loaner skates in a variety of sizes will be available. All event parking will be located at Lakeside Park, with a free shuttle running continuously between Lakeside Park and Wolske Bay throughout the event. Limited handicap-accessible parking will be available directly at Wolske Bay Park.
Thanks to dedicated volunteers and community partners, the bay transforms into a welcoming winter gathering space that’s perfect for families, friends, and couples alike.
Make Dinner the Main Event
Valentine’s weekend is the perfect time to linger over a romantic dinner, and Menomonie’s dining scene offers a variety of inviting options. From candlelit tables ideal for date night to relaxed neighborhood favorites perfect for conversation, local restaurants create an atmosphere that feels both special and approachable.
Many spots lean into the weekend with warm ambiance, thoughtful menus, and attentive service, making dinner a highlight rather than just a stop on the schedule. Add dessert, a shared drink, or a post-dinner walk downtown to round out the evening.
Turn Valentine’s Day Into a Weekend
Why limit the celebration to one day? Pair events with a cozy overnight stay, enjoy breakfast the next morning, and explore Menomonie at an unhurried pace. With walkable downtown experiences, inviting restaurants, and scenic winter settings, Valentine’s Day weekend easily becomes a memorable getaway.
However you choose to celebrate, Menomonie offers a Valentine’s weekend that feels warm, welcoming, and unmistakably local.
