Who Are We? We are a group of local amateur radio operators who love learning new things. We enjoy science, electronics, and connecting with people across the globe via amateur radio. Our organization, Dunn County ARES, Amateur Radio Emergency Services, also has a public service aspect to it. We hold additional certifications so that we can work with emergency management when needed. With also help with communications for events such as bike races and community runs and walking events. Are you planning such an event? Maybe we can help.
What Are We Doing? We have set up a Special Event Station in the morning and will be participating in the annual ham radio Summer Field Day Event in the afternoon. We will be making multiple radio contacts around the country and around the globe, on a variety of radio frequencies, using voice, digital modes and Morse Code, also known as CW.
Why? Ham radio is a fun! Amateur radio is a hundred-year-old hobby that encompasses modern digital and computer communications as well as old fashioned techniques and skills. The United States has approximately 750,000 licensed amateur radio operators, with more joining every day. People of all ages, from 8 to 100, from all walks of life, and from all over the country enjoy the challenge and the comradery of amateur radio.
