Step into a daidokoro (台所)—kitchen—on UW-Stout’s campus to learn about and enjoy sushi rolls. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the history and cultural significance of traditional Japanese sushi rolls while learning how they are made. Your instructor will demonstrate the rolling technique using a bamboo mat before guiding you step-by-step as you create your own sushi rolls with a variety of ingredients, including fresh vegetables. You’ll enjoy tasting your creations and will take home the bamboo sushi mat used in class so you can continue making sushi rolls in your own kitchen. All materials provided. Youth (age 12 and up) are welcome but must be registered and accompanied by a parent or guardian. Registration required – class limited to 20 individuals.
