Whether you’re searching for the right activities for kids or you’re just a kid at heart, Menomonie makes history, nature, agriculture, food, theater and culture fun for the whole family. Explore some of these family-favorited activities and it will make you want to pack up the car, grab the kids, and hit the road!

Take a Hike.

Spending time together outdoors is an excellent way to get fresh air as well as get some exercise. Menomonie is a perfect place to get your kids out in the parks and trails and show them all that nature has to offer. There are always plenty of things to do to keep them engaged while on the trail including collecting leaves, identifying trees, searching for animal signs, and even geocaching! Float Down the River.

If you’re visiting Menomonie, you must see the famous Red Cedar River. This river is frequented by fishers, paddlers, tubers, hikers, and bikers. Pack up the kayaks, canoes or tubes and put-in at Riverside Park. Along its route, the river passes through the communities of Irvington and Downsville, each with easy access to parking and the perfect areas to take-out, even have a picnic with the family! Keep your eyes peeled for bald eagles and other wildlife, frequently sighted along this beautiful waterway. If your family enjoys fishing, be sure to bring the rods. Menomonie is known for largemouth and smallmouth bass, northern pike, panfish, and walleye.

Visit the Water Park.

What could be better than cooling off by splashing around the pool with the whole family? With a variety of passes, day rates, and rentals, the Wakanda Water Park offers something for everyone. This outdoor water park is family-friendly with private showers, bathrooms, changing rooms and concessions available. To end the summer with a splash, the Wakanda Water Park and Dunn County Humane Society hosts a dog swim event to enjoy one last swim for the summer.
