Fish Fry Season is
Upon us!
We know that every Friday is a perfect Friday for Fish Fry Friday, right? It turns out, the tradition began way back before any of us were around.
According to Catholism.org, the practice of Friday abstinence (not eating warm blooded meat) during the Lenten season came to America with the arrival of many Catholics in the 19th Century. The tradition in Wisconsin began because Wisconsin was settled heavily by Catholics of German, Polish and other backgrounds whose religion forbade eating meats on Fridays.
Here in Menomonie, we are proud to celebrate Fish Fry Friday year-round!
