Devil’s Punchbowl

The Devil’s Punchbowl has become an iconic natural landmark of the Menomonie area. Though Menomonie is rich with natural beauty, the Devil’s Punchbowl is a real gem, especially to first time visitors. The rock formation at the Devil’s Punchbowl is over 500 million years old. From the depositing of ancient sea sand to the glacial erosion that carved out it’s now magnificent shape, it holds a story as old as time.

A short trail leads to a winding set of wood stairs, surrounded by overhanging branches and various greenery. Upon reaching the bottom of the ravine, enjoy the unique beauty and peacefulness of the site all around you. The wet rock face and mosses sparkle in the sunlight, and if you listen closely, you can hear the water trickling down into the small pool below. During the cold winter months, ice formations are created from the running water. The Devil’s Punchbowl is a picturesque site during any Wisconsin season.
