What is Murals in Menomonie?
Murals in Menomonie is a five-day mural festival taking place in and around downtown Menomonie, Wisconsin. Artists from around the world will gather to paint 12+ large-scale murals that celebrate and share the stories of our community. These murals will highlight Menomonie’s history through vibrant, publicly accessible works of art.
Who are The Walldogs?
The Walldogs are an international group of artists, muralists, and sign painters who select one small town each year to transform through murals. They generously volunteer their time to design and paint murals that reflect the history and character of the town they visit. Many of the murals already found throughout Menomonie were painted by local Walldogs artists.
Who is hosting the festival?
Murals in Menomonie is a collaborative effort between the City of Menomonie, Community Foundation of Dunn County, Downtown Menomonie, Dunn County Historical Society, Explore Menomonie, University of Wisconsin–Stout, and Vintage Sign Shop. Most of the mural painting and festival activities will take place throughout downtown Menomonie.
Why murals?
Murals and public art have no socioeconomic barriers—they are free, accessible, and available to everyone, 24/7/365. Each mural will tell a unique story from Menomonie’s past, from quirky local inventions to the lumber industry that helped shape our community.
What else will be happening besides mural painting?
Murals in Menomonie is a celebration of both art and community history. Throughout the week, you can enjoy social events, live music, artisan and farmers markets, a kids’ area, and a fundraising banquet to support future mural upkeep.
Where will the murals be painted?
Murals will be painted at multiple locations throughout downtown Menomonie. Some will be painted directly onto buildings, while others will be created on large panels in Wilson Park and installed once completed.

Murals in Menomonie is made possible through generous donations and sponsorships from community members, businesses, and property owners. This festival is truly a collaborative effort. Any funds not used during the festival will be placed into the Murals in Menomonie Endowment Fund, which will support mural maintenance and upkeep for years to come.
