Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area

Hoffman Hills State Recreation Area offers over 700 acres of preserved and restored wooded hills, wetlands and prairie scattered with hiking and cross-country skiing trails. This hidden gem, just a 20-minute drive from Menomonie, boasts four seasons of fun! In the summer, the native prairie is humming with wildlife and the shaded forests and are a serene and charming getaway for the entire family. The trails are posted with the various routes as well as educational signage about nature and plenty of benches for taking in the view or taking it easy. The trails at Hoffman Hills are great for all ages and activity levels. But the real draw to this area is the 60-foot-high observation tower, crowning one of the highest points in Dunn County and offering spectacular views for miles. This is a must-see in the fall to take in all our fall foliage. The tower offers a gorgeous, colorful overlook of many surrounding cities including Menomonie, Colfax, Elk Mound, Eau Claire and the surrounding countryside.
